Another Otto Success!
This challenge ended successfully. Thank you to Otto and all who were inspired by him to give.
After 3 Year Hiatus, Otto is Back!
The mysterious “Otto the Cat” has come forward again with a challenge to benefit Camden Food Pantry.
This very generous, anonymous, and cool cat donor will match $2.00 for every $1.00 given by human donors (for the first $4,000 from humans and $8,000 from Otto) between now and December 13, 2025. The Otto Challenge funds will buy food for those in need.
Otto is (deservedly) pleased with himself, and also with our community. In his own words:
“Ain’t I the Cat’s meow”,
(yes, yes you are) and
“I was so grateful and humbled by the amazing turnout of support by members of this community.”
As are all of us at the Camden Area Christian Food Pantry. Truly grateful. The previous Otto Challenges provided thousands of dollars of direct food support, and inspired giving from other anonymous donors and organizations in the area on a similar scale. Combined with Otto’s funds, this totaled thousands of dollars.
In uncertain times, we seek to come together to support the needs of the community. If you are able, please help us meet Otto’s challenge by raising $4,000 before December 13, 2025.
To participate in the challenge, please note the Important Info at the bottom of this page, then click here to donate online or send a check to the Camden Area Christian Food Pantry, PO Box 337, Camden 04843. In either case, please be sure to designate the donation for “Otto’s Challenge”.
Important Info
We still don't know Otto's true identity but we periodically get notes from Otto checking to see how things are going. At the end of the challenge Otto will notify us that the Hannaford gift cards are ready to be picked up.
Donations of any dollar amount are welcome and appreciated.
All breeds of Cat and Cat-persons are welcome and appreciated, as are all Dog-persons. Otto has never said anything bad about Dogs in any letter to us.
Participants acknowledge that they are making a donation to the Camden Area Christian Food Pantry, and that no goods or services are being purchased. No prizes will be awarded. All proceeds go directly to those needing food assistance.
Gift cards sent to the Pantry are given to our clients to purchase items we might not have. We ask that donations via Hannaford Gift Card be “restricted” cards, which cannot be used to purchase tobacco or alcohol - in keeping with our objective of providing nutritious food.
Donations can be made online (see link below) or mailed to this address:
(please write “Otto’s Challenge” on the memo line of the check).
